The 31st edition of the traditional series of International Colloquium on Group Theoretical Methods in Physics, which started in 1972 and nowadays takes place every two years, was hosted for the first time in South America, in the "Cidade Maravilhosa" of Rio de Janeiro. The Colloquium consists of plenary talks, parallel and poster sessions. During the Colloquium, in a special event, the Wigner Medal and the Weyl Prize were awarded.
The hosting Institute of Group31 is CBPF (Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas), located in Urca, Rio de Janeiro. The CBPF is in a central, very accessible, position in Zona Sul. Its surroundings, which include the famous Sugar Loaf, are very nice. Its location can be checked using google-map (CBPF, Rio de Janeiro).
Two full-day plenary sessions (on Monday June 20 and Friday June 24) will take place at the Fundação Casa Rui Barbosa, located within a garden with historical buildings and close to the Botafogo metro station, Rio de Janeiro (google-map "Casa Rui Barbosa RJ"). Casa Rui Barbosa is at twenty minutes walking distance from CBPF.
The Wigner Medal and Weyl Prize Award Ceremony will take place on Wednesday 22, at the brand new Rio de Janeiro's Science Museum, Museu do Amanhã (google-map "Museu do Amanhã" ). The Museum will also host a special large audience event on Saturday morning, June 25.
